Ok, Ok... It was freezing cold, windy, and the sun was nowhere in sight, but we had a good time! Kael slept the entire time, but Sterling and my brother Bryce had fun on the rocks looking for crabs and found a sea lion caught up on the rocks. Turns out that all over the southern California coast baby sea lions are turning up stranded, usually injured. We had no idea at the time! Hundreds of baby sea lions have been rescued in the past 2 months. They have no idea what is causing these little guys to become injured, weak, and stranded. So sad!!
We invested in one of those little half tents to sit in with Kael at the beach and it turned out to be our saviour that day!! It kept the wind from blowing us away! Our friends Isaac and Rachel came out to the beach with us ( they live in Ventura) too! We had a great time (although we were freezing!) I can't wait to take Kael back when it is warm and sunny! Growing up spending my summers at the beach, I plan on taking him (and my other children when they come!) all the time!
Not only did Kael sleep the whole time,
He slept fist punching the air with both hands!
It must have been a beach thing because he
hasn't ever done it before, or since!
Our snugly warm half tent!
The boys walking back from crab chasing.
Such an epic picture!
The boys on the rocks.
The pelicans were crazy! they were swarming and diving right
next to the jetty! There must have been a swarm of fish right there!
I kept looking for the dolphins to show up, but I
had no such luck :(
